Psalm 18
He Is My Deliverer ~ A Word from Forged in Faith Ministries:
A Teaching & Prayer from Psalm 18
Dear beloved sisters and brothers in the faith,
Hello Warriors. First, let me begin with an honest word… I’m sorry for my silence these past few weeks. Life has felt like a storm lately, and I’ve been in the thick of the battle. Like many of you, I’ve been pressing through circumstances that have tested my peace, shaken my footing, and pushed me to cry out to God with everything I have. But through it all, His Word has not failed me. And now, I return to you with a message that has carried me through the toughest moments~ a powerful teaching rooted in Psalm 18 - a psalm of deliverance, power, and promise.
✝️ Psalm 18: A Warrior’s Psalm
Psalm 18 is David’s declaration after the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, including Saul. It’s not a quiet whisper of thanks, but a shout of victory. It’s the roar of a warrior who has walked through the fire of battle and knows Who fought for him.
✝️ I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge… (Psalm 18:1-2, ESV)
David opens with love ~ not fear. And that’s powerful. In the middle of hardship, it’s not strength that first comes out of his mouth, but love for the One who is his strength.
He goes on to describe the Lord as:
• Rock - steady, unshakable, foundational
• Fortress - impenetrable covering from attacks
• Deliverer - the One who pulls us out when we can’t escape on our own.
Have you been there? Where you felt surrounded, pursued, rejected and left out, misunderstood, attacked by people or situations that should’ve been safe? I know I have. And in Psalm 18, David says something that gives me goosebumps every time:
✝️ “In my distress I called upon the Lord From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry to Him reached His ears.” (Psalm 18:6, ESV)
He hears you. Your voice, not just your prayers. Your cries, your silence, your heartbreak, your sighs … all of it reaches Him.
Then comes the picture of what God does when He hears:
“Then the earth reeled and rocked. He bowed the heavens and came down. He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.” (Psalm 18:7-16, ESV)
He doesn’t sit idly by. He moves heaven and earth for you. This isn’t just poetic, it’s personal. When God fights for His child, the natural order bends at His command. Waters part. Mountains shake. Darkness is scattered. And it’s all to reach you.
The God Who Equips You
What’s even more stunning is that this chapter doesn’t just focus on rescue. It also reveals how God equips you to fight.
“He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.” (Psalm 18:34, ESV)
“You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me.”(v. 35)
Beloveds, you are not helpless or hopeless. You are not merely waiting to be saved, you are being strengthened in the battle. God is training your hands, steadying your arms, and placing a shield in your grip. You are being made battle-ready for every fiery dart the enemy tries to throw your way.
This Is Personal
✝️ Psalm 18 has been my lifeline these past few weeks. As I’ve faced waves of personal trials on all sides, the Lord has reminded me that He’s still my Fortress, still my Rescuer, and still my Strength. I may be walking through the valley, but I’m not walking alone. Neither are you.
This Psalm is not just David’s story. It’s ours. It’s for every daughter and son of the King of Kings who’s ever had to cry yourself to sleep at night and still get up in the morning and press on. 💪🏼✝️🌺💝🪽
A Prayer Over You (and Me)
Father God,
I thank You that You are not a far-off Lord Jesus. You are my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer. When I cried out to You, You heard me. You reached down and pulled me out of waters that I thought would drown me. You lifted my head when I could barely breathe and gave me new life and a renewed strength.
Train my hands for battle, Lord Jesus. Teach me how to continue to war in the Spirit with Your Word, with Your promises, within Your presence and protection. Clothe me with strength and dignity and surround me with the peace of God.
Break every enemy assignment sent against me and the men and women reading this right now. Shatter the arrows of discouragement, rejection, betrayal, abandonment, and fear, in Jesus name.
Lift us up Father God, establish our feet on solid ground, and fill our mouths with the utterance to sing praise songs of deliverance.
Because You, O Lord, are worthy to be praised. Keep us strong, bold and courageous dressed in the full armor of God within the protection of the precious shed blood of our Savior Jesus through every season.
In Jesus’ Holy and Mighty name, we pray!! Amen and Amen. ✝️🪽🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥♥️🙏🏼♥️🔥⚔️🩸🙏🏼🌺💝
May Psalm 18 become one of your anthems of endurance, strength, and hope this week and in the difficult days. Remember, You are seen. You are loved. you are not alone. And you are a child of the Most High God and were made for such a time as this. Stay strong in the Lord Jesus and in the power of His might. 🔥🔥🔥 You are covered, protected, and victorious in Jesus’ name! 🔥🔥🔥
Stay strong, stay on fire, and walk in divine security. Until next time, keep burning with the presence of God!
In His Grace and Mercy, your sister in Christ Jesus,
